About the Event
On July 13th, DANA launched into the UAE innovation ecosystem with an event, "Women Lead the Region to a Sustainable Future," produced by 3Monkeys Creative Consulting, and hosted by Eithne Treanor. The event opened with a keynote speech by Fatema AlMulla from the UAE Office of Food Security, followed by congratulatory remarks by Chemi Peres of Pitango. The panels, moderated by Leah Tedrow, addressed "Desert Tech and Sustainability as a Regional Endeavor," with panelists Lamis Harib, Nicole Hod Stroh, Amir Grinstein, and Majd Mashharawi. The second panel, "The Role of Women in the Transforming MENA Tech Ecosystem," featured Sophia Swire, Bina Khan, Elah Alkalay, Nivine Sandouka, and Roberto Croci. The event also included a presentation by Darya Shaked, and a virtual tour of the DANA Beta Site in Hatzeva. Finally, the event closed with an interview with the DANA founding team: one of the 50:50 Startups alumni Zada Haj, Katie Wachsberger, and Shirley Shahar, calling to action playmakers and leaders of the MENA tech ecosystems to collaborate in bringing the values of women empowerment, sustainability, peace building through innovation, and impact into fruition together with DANA. DANA is an accelerator for women-led startups in desert tech, based in Abu Dhabi Global Markets.
